1001208 jdawg78 : Hola CaptainJack!
1001209 jdawg78 : Como te va?
1001210 CaptainJack : bien gracias, u tu? que pasa?
1001211 jdawg78 : Not bad.
1001212 jdawg78 : I'm writing haikus.
1001213 CaptainJack : whats that?
1001214 jdawg78 : It's a Japanese type of poem.
1001215 jdawg78 : 3 lines.
1001216 jdawg78 : For example,
1001217 jdawg78 : I enter this chat
1001218 jdawg78 : in search of learning and friends
1001219 jdawg78 : but I find empty voices.
1001220 CaptainJack : scots can say that in one lol
1001221 CaptainJack : japs are daft
1001222 jdawg78 : Yes, but the form is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, then 5 again.
1001223 jdawg78 : So you have to sort of fit your words in.
1001224 jdawg78 : I think haiku translates to /within one breath.
1001225 jdawg78 : So the poem must be able to be said in one breath.
1001226 CaptainJack : guess theres a lot of astma alli
1001228 jdawg78 : English syllables differ than japanese words...so some liberties must be taken.
1001229 CaptainJack : the japs took a lot of liberties with the british
1001230 CaptainJack : in their dna
1001231 jdawg78 : That doesn't make sense.
1001232 CaptainJack : what doesnt?
1001233 CaptainJack : english sylables differ FROM
1001234 CaptainJack : or are different to
1001235 jdawg78 : The DNA thing.
1001236 CaptainJack : I agree, taking liberties doesnt make sense,
1001237 CaptainJack : even if its in their DNA
1001238 jdawg78 : Again, I have no idea what you are talking about.
1001239 CaptainJack : well the liberties,, in this situation, were starvation and slaughter
1001240 CaptainJack : hence the song Enola Gay
1001242 CaptainJack : catching up yet?
1001243 jdawg78 : It's hard to catch up with something that seems to have no direction.
1001244 jdawg78 : I think we are using different meanings of liberties.
1001245 CaptainJack : liberty is an individual thing
1001246 CaptainJack : naturists, law makers, politicians, web site guys
1001247 CaptainJack : all have a perspective
1001248 jdawg78 : Liberty is being free from oppression.
1001249 CaptainJack : but it relates to differnt parts of societies
1001250 CaptainJack : so has a different perspective
1001251 CaptainJack : liberty could be free from slavery
1001252 CaptainJack : a country freed to make up its own laws using the ibcome of its population.. free from control of archaic prpaganda
1001253 jdawg78 : In my context I mean to take liberties...such as not adhering to the strict confines of the haiku format because English language works differently than the Japanese language.
1001254 jdawg78 : One of my lines had 6 syllables instead of 5.
1001255 CaptainJack : i worry for the extra one
1001256 CaptainJack : and you should never intentially mean to take liberties,, in any language, not a hard direction to follow
1001257 CaptainJack : lucky i avoided the wrath of zara lol
1001258 CaptainJack : probably on jds dating website.. Sue She
1001259 jdawg78 : Depends on what you are taking liberties with.
