charliedontsurf : thrift stores are one thing, pawn shops another
BillMcneal : ah ok, i don't know that term
BillMcneal : i thought it only existed for clothes
charliedontsurf : usually thrift stores sell things that have been donated to them, pawn stores hold your goods for awhile for a fee and if you don't pay up, you lose it
Verntuzo : Tiendas de empeño?
charliedontsurf : clothes for sure, but anything really.....I go to one called Saver's looking for books
charliedontsurf : tienda de empeno is a pawn shop Vern lol
Lynx : Vendo Oro
Verntuzo : Una vez quise vender una videocasetera o empeñarla y no me la aceptaron

charliedontsurf : It may be ok, it's never been out of print, it just will probably be dry and slow due to changing popularity
charliedontsurf : You've read it Bill?
charliedontsurf : it's a 25-hour audiobook
Lynx : it sounds boring, charlie
BillMcneal : i've read it several times
charliedontsurf : Yes, but many classics are boring by today's standards
Verntuzo : Hola Paula
BillMcneal : hi pau
charliedontsurf : Wow, a true believer lol
Lynx : Paulita :)
PauLa : holitas :)
charliedontsurf : What is the difference between a thrift shop and a pawn shop? You pay a bit more than when you shop at a thrift store, but the difference is negligible, especially considering the quality of the items sold in resale shops. Pawn shops often sell higher-end items, such as fine jewelry, electronics, and musical instruments, though some sell all types of goods.
BillMcneal : i don't think blackmore was a very good writer, my knowledge of literature is limited but i can clearly tell he had problems telling stories, and his are crazy long, some of his other novels are a pain in the azz to finish, his second halves are always too dense, except for this one
Verntuzo : una vez me encontré una cadenita de oro tirada y pues que la vendo
BillMcneal : if you're used to literature you might find the book dull and that's alright by me
Verntuzo : Me dieron como Mil varos
charliedontsurf : I probably will, but I've felt that way before...think of the Brontes, Washington Iriving, that sort of Victorian stuff which was popular at one time
BillMcneal : why do you think they're no longer popular? among readers of course
charliedontsurf : He may not be a good writer, but he can play guitar youtu.be/3SH_MbMJwxI

charliedontsurf : I"ll give it a try though
charliedontsurf : I'm guessing there is no sex, no intrigue, no bombs?
PauLa : I was going to say that, society and its likes changes day a day
BillMcneal : scalloped neck though, almost counts as cheating
charliedontsurf : exactly Paula
BillMcneal : there's no sex, but there's intrigue and even some gore
charliedontsurf : Things fall out of fashion
charliedontsurf : a ponzi scheme?
charliedontsurf : a love triangle?
BillMcneal : something like that, his uncle was doing something "shady"
BillMcneal : john reed's i mean
