jdawg78 : Enhorabuena!
jdawg78 : Do you know how to use the subjunctive in English?
Olivia : me?
jdawg78 : Hola Olivia!
jdawg78 : Not many English speakers do either.
jdawg78 : It's not as common. But it does exist.
Olivia : good, cause I honestly don't know what it is
jdawg78 : I was a poor man. But if I (were) a rich man...
Anthony : es un antepasado?
Olivia : I know it in spanish though.... which is weird i guess
jdawg78 : Was changes to Were.

Anthony : да сложжное слово не знаю его....
Anthony : пережиток
jdawg78 : Only English teachers seem to care about it in English.
jdawg78 : However in Spanish it's a bit more necessary and useful.
Anthony : remanente del pasado
jdawg78 : The cat just jumped on my lap.
Olivia : I agree. I definitely use it when I speak Spanish. Quite often actually
jdawg78 : There are also gender specific words in English.
Anthony : Que tengas buen provecho!
jdawg78 : blond vs blonde.
Anthony : como asi
jdawg78 : Blond is a blond male, blonde is a blonde female.
Ric : but that's a borrowed word from the French language
jdawg78 : blond, rubio, blonde, rubia.
Anthony : justo asi*
jdawg78 : Borrowed? We're not giving it back. It's stolen.
jdawg78 : We don't just borrow from other languages, we follow them down dark allyways..
jdawg78 : mug them, and then go through their pockets looking for loose grammar.
Ric : well now the tables have turned
Olivia : so true... english honestly shouldn't be a thing
Ric : it's other languages that borrow words from the English language
jdawg78 : But other langues have started that way as well.
Ric : many linguists frown up on borrowing words from other language
jdawg78 : You can sort of see how the langues change. As Spain gets closer to France, you start getting Catalan and Portuguese.
jdawg78 : Which sort of is a mix of the two.
jdawg78 : languages-
Olivia : It's ok. We can share. We have too many words either way
Ric : I personally think it's enriching as long as you don't stop using your own words
jdawg78 : As you go into the US you get English which then turns into 'Murican.
Olivia : I can vouch for that... some people here are special
jdawg78 : I was watching this show and there was this English guy and this American girl and she was trying to do his accent.
Olivia : Sometimes I can't even understand their english
Ric : contrary to many people, I do like the different variations of the English language
jdawg78 : Then he goes, I can be from Texas. -I only speak one language, and WaHair wa-hite socks.
Olivia : We do have a lot of different dialects, even in just the US
Ric : I used to hate how the scottish spoke until I went there and it slowly grew on me
jdawg78 : Oddly enough, the actress is actually from New Zealand and she does a very good american accent.
Olivia : they are just very harsh
Olivia : the accent at least
Ric : I've met the kindest individuals in Scotland
jdawg78 : Most of the popular shows here are actually English/Aussie actors doing American accents. The Mentalist, House, etc.
Olivia : I meant the accent.. for sure not the people
charliedontsurf : Yeah, what's up with that? We have a place called Hollywood
charliedontsurf : hey Suavecito
Ric : Mister!
Olivia : I am surprised when I learnt that certain actors aren't american...
charliedontsurf : How do you like being unburdened from mod duties?
Ric : I have soft spot for mister's accent
Olivia : I only ever hear them with an american accent so I guess I assume they are
charliedontsurf : Half of The Walking Dead actors are Brits
charliedontsurf : lol Ric
Ric : oh mister, I was offered to carry on with my mods duty but I turned it right down
Ric : can't be arsed anymore
charliedontsurf : soft spot is getting a tad risque big fella
jdawg78 : Ric, have you ever seen Flight of the Conchords?
Ric : I shouldve known better than to say that lol
charliedontsurf : You did your time chico, welcome to the real world
