1957271 Shinnrah2 : but my brother says it´s like the best $20 per month he spends for his hourly commute
1957272 Shinnrah2 : better than spotify
1957273 Shinnrah2 : but he wont let me trial his account hah
1957274 Travis : I don't often listen to podcasts, but I have from time to time. Not my poison
1957275 Travis : You can piggyback off of his account free for a month but he refuses to let you try?
1957276 Travis : No Christmas gift in 2023 for brother, am I right?
1957277 Travis : Thing is you can listen to pulp fiction, lectures, the classics whatever and nearly everything is available these days for free, at least here with a valid library card. They have a vast online library that is constantly expanding.
1957278 Travis : So Steinbeck then a lecture series on the Italian Renaissance and then say Stephen King or Louis L'Amour
1957279 Travis : I have to keep a running list of what I've read or else I sometimes forget what I've read already until I'm in the book again and something rings a bell
1957281 Shinnrah2 : nah it´ costs here
1957282 Shinnrah2 : last time i thought of trying to the library, the service wasn´t available here.
1957283 Shinnrah2 : Libraries are pretty archaic here in a way. lol Usually everyone tries to find who has a subscription for what and they try pilfer the hell out of it... like netflix sharing ahhaa
1957284 Travis : Yeah, I used my sister's Netflix account
1957285 Travis : use*
1957286 Travis : Our libraries here are pretty good I guess
1957287 Shinnrah2 : I mean even when i went to the library a few years ago to use the internet (was in a different town), the internet was akin to dial-up. Would´ve thought i stepped back in time...
1957288 Travis : Even if you're in a small town, the physical books may be limited, but you can use your card to check out an audiobook on line and either stream it, or download it
1957289 Travis : omg the Bronze Age
1957290 Shinnrah2 : i haven´t visited a library since covid has started, so maybe our libraries have diversified since then and adapted.
1957291 Travis : And I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars a year on Amazon
1957292 Shinnrah2 : Lol i wasn´t even streaming a video. I was just looking at booking flights back to my home city...
1957293 Travis : Probably not, just sounds like your priorites are different
1957294 Travis : Yeah, library computers for internet should be normal speed, not snail mode
1957295 Shinnrah2 : Yeah i´ve been all about work since covid. Sorta sucks. Logistics and Transportation etc :(
1957296 Travis : That would suck
1957297 Shinnrah2 : everyone got locked down, i had to go to work. Not even a doctor or anything ahahahah
1957298 Travis : Yeah, they tried to do that here but only some places were that hardcore, or they were but only temporarily
1957299 Travis : I hear you guys went Full Monty lol
1957300 Shinnrah2 : Yeah 2020 march was insane. That´s when we went hard
1957301 Travis : Wear 19 masks that don't work if you drive alone haha
1957302 Shinnrah2 : it was essentially complete lockdown for like 6-7 weeks. No border travel unless "essential" for essential business... which was only transportation and medical.
1957303 Travis : Wear 47 if you're outdoors in the desert alone
1957304 Travis : Essential business was a crock here. The large stores stayed open but the little independent ones were forced to shut down. Coincidence?
1957305 Shinnrah2 : what´s 19 and 47?
1957306 Shinnrah2 : lol money
1957307 Travis : I was exaggerating
1957308 Shinnrah2 : it´s all health and safety until it hits the bottom line? maybe?
1957309 Travis : You could go to a strip club but don't go to church
1957310 Travis : That sort of thing, no rhyme or reason
1957311 Shinnrah2 : oh right... i was starting to think 19 and 47 were a type of mask mb hah
1957312 Shinnrah2 : It was good here in that sense because the approach was uniform..
1957313 Shinnrah2 : supermarkets, dairies and corner superettes, petrol stations, and Logistic/transportation industries
1957314 Travis : Apprently only the N-95 do anything at all, and barely. The generic mask everyone was using had no effect except to comply and virtue signal
1957315 Shinnrah2 : (not including doctors and hospitals, emergencies etc)
1957316 Travis : Did you all follow St. Fauci too?
1957317 Travis : I'd hate to be a beagle back in the day :D
1957318 Shinnrah2 : Yeah... i was preaching to our employees...epecially by last year, is that by wearing the mask, you´re showing that you acknowledge what´s going on in the world and that you care
1957321 Travis : See? No useful application whatsoever but showing that you care lol
1957322 Shinnrah2 : How many times i reamed people for not wearing their masks and not "acknowledging" that covid was a thing.... Like over the two years, it turned from WE Must do this or we all die.... to a "lets be nice and do the right thing" approach. it was funny
1957323 Travis : Get in line, sheep and stop complaing, serf! lol
1957324 Shinnrah2 : gawd i´m looking back at myself now and i sorta wanna puke lmao
1957325 Travis : Hysteria was rampant, but most complied which was the goal
1957326 Travis : It wasn't the Black Plague, take a breath
1957327 Travis : Hey, people were overcautious, no shame in that, but at least be realistic and not a Karen
1957328 Travis : No one was allowed to question the experts, which views changed constantly
1957329 Shinnrah2 : too many experts
1957330 Travis : yeah "experts"
1957331 Shinnrah2 : I work for a state-owned company so we´re heavily influenced by government policy and flavor of the day etc
1957332 Shinnrah2 : Prime Minister says be kind be nice, we be kind be nice and wear a mask ahaha
1957333 Travis : And if an expert didn't follow the daily narrative they were excluded, canceled, ridiculed. Now much of what they said is coming to light
1957334 Shinnrah2 : except i was dictator with a 2m stick walking everywhere at work aahahahah
1957335 Shinnrah2 : Mind you to start, it was horrific how many were dying from it. That was undeniably sad
1957336 Shinnrah2 : I just thought that after 1.5 years, it felt like a drag
1957337 Travis : And so much hypocrisy. The leaders wear a mask when in public and later they're seen on a camera indoors partying with dozens or hundreds of unmasked people
1957338 Shinnrah2 : There was a jab for it. we´re coming right.
1957339 Travis : I could say more, but I think we get the picture.
1957340 Travis : They'll never let it go, it's too convenient
1957341 Shinnrah2 : Yes one of our Members of Parliament were seen going mountain biking during the 1st lockdown, when we were told we could only exercise locally and not do anything strenuous so as to not end up in hospital etc
1957342 Shinnrah2 : we´ve come a long way
1957343 Shinnrah2 : How´s trump? do you miss trump?
1957344 Travis : Like the common cold or flu, it'll probably be here for a long time. So everyone relax, put on your thinking cap and chill baby haha
1957345 Travis : I liked Trump but he made some unforced errors
1957346 Shinnrah2 : I really appreciated his honesty tbh. polarizing, but there wasn´t much to him. Pretty transparent guy in the way he operates coz he just comes out with it.
1957347 Travis : He was unconventiona to be sure which was kinda nice
1957348 Travis : lol exactly
1957349 Shinnrah2 : yeah dude barely ran around the bush which was awesome
1957350 Shinnrah2 : he was just always on the attack
1957351 Travis : And Biden is a puppet on a string, just reading the teleprompter and messing that up lol
1957352 Shinnrah2 : yup feels like a wet towel
1957353 Travis : Well he was always on the attack because he, too, was getting it 24/7 from all angles. Most people would have thrown in the towel
1957354 Shinnrah2 : Not saying what trump was doing was exactly the best thing, but at least he done stuff
1957355 Shinnrah2 : Idk what Biden´s legacy would be
1957356 Travis : I didn't always like his tone or style, too brash, but he was effective
1957357 Shinnrah2 : This is coming from someone outside the U.S.A.
1957358 Travis : Much like Nance Pelosi was effective, but I didn't like her
1957359 Travis : Yeah and I'm sure your newspapers are extremely conservative in nature haha
1957360 Travis : So, happy to be back to work?
1957361 Shinnrah2 : U.S media feels shocking to us and propaganda-ish
1957362 Shinnrah2 : We use a lot of passive sentence structures and try to sound objective haha
1957363 Travis : Your break was just a measly little thing, but like you said, much needed
1957364 Shinnrah2 : Nah... it was painful ahahahaha.... And because i shaved all of my hair off (coz the barbers been closed for the xmas holidays) everyone was mocking the shit outta me at work
1957365 Travis : Politics sucks, period. From the right, from the left, too much influence, corruption, nepotism
1957366 Shinnrah2 : calling me a tibetan monk etc LOL
1957367 Travis : omg I thought you were joking about that, Cue Ball
1957368 Travis : Just don't light yourself on fire if you don't get your way
1957369 Shinnrah2 : nah it was stifling here. Couldn´t handle it so brought me a new hair clippers... and i underestimated the length....
1957370 Shinnrah2 : but it was too late LOL:
