BillMcneal : i remember reading todos los fuegos el fuego, and hating it so much... but naturally i was more interested in the meaning than his style, he was a genius, too much for me
crakecito : but he is retired now
PauLa : La tregua
crakecito : does not write anymore
PauLa : Gracias por el fuego
solanka : do you read this stuff at school?
BillMcneal : crake
BillMcneal : me? no; and our education is really pathetic anyway
solanka : no, I mean generally
PauLa : El pozo....Onetti
BillMcneal : they only made me read two books in high school; one by verne, and one by roberto arlt which was terribly dense, hated it too
BillMcneal : ah... i don't think so sola, maybe good schools do
solanka : here they ask students to read all these..uff..oldfashioned terrible masterpieces
PauLa : oh Arlt
BillMcneal : el juguete rabioso pau, did you read it?
solanka : Jules verne?
BillMcneal : cortazar in polish? what a nightmare
BillMcneal : then don't pau :P
solanka : Marques is a nightmare in polish
BillMcneal : and spanish...
solanka : in spanish too..
BillMcneal : our literature teacher explicitly told us one day "read marquez if you want, but i think... he's boring, too long"
crakecito : Comte de Lautréamont also a must in Polish schools, without reading him no one can graduate
BillMcneal : super intellectual guy tells you that, naturally you trust him
solanka : no idea who is, crak
PauLa : Mariposas amarillas, Mauricio Babilonia
BillMcneal : cool last name
PauLa : 100 años de soledad
crakecito : ohh Mariposa was an old chatter jeje
Macuahuitl : Mariposa was like 70 years old, lol.
solanka : yes..it was so boring..but some of my friends who studied spanish literature loved it
crakecito : jajaja Chuy
Macuahuitl : lol srsly
Macuahuitl : I saw her Fb.
PauLa : It was rather difficult to understand, but when you get it it is amazing
BillMcneal : i liked "the maid of sker" and it's horrifyingly long and tedious, wouldn't recommend it to anyone
BillMcneal : the problem with literature is that the actual artwork consists of writing well, not what you write about
BillMcneal : but you can't tell whether people liked the content more than the "envelope"
BillMcneal : it's like songs and lyrics, who cares what they're singing about? you either like the music or you don't
crakecito : Cristian Rodríguez also very difficult to understand but he is a touchstone in the spanish literature
PauLa : Bill I recomend you " The active side of infinity"in English
solanka : funny.,cause I like more lirycs in Polish than actual melody and in other languages just opposite
BillMcneal : author?
PauLa : Carlos Castaneda
BillMcneal : that's ok sola, but if i asked you "is X band good?" you'd have to be honest and tell me "i don't know, i like the lyrics" -- then i wouldn't listen to them; i wouldn't have read roberto arlt if i had been told things that way, the style is terrible, and the content none of my business
crakecito : Chuy any news about lady gaga there? New album o something?
Gonzalo : Hi, looking for a woman native english speaker
crakecito : she is totally lost
BillMcneal : i'm googling it pau, what genre is it?
solanka : have you ever heard about "singing" poetry?
PauLa : hmmm I guess you're not going to like it
solanka : the music would be just a background
Macuahuitl : Carlos Castaneda was a fraud.
BillMcneal : anthropologist and shaman ::blink
BillMcneal : but i like music sola
BillMcneal : :P
crakecito : Hélmer Herrera the maestro of singing poetry
BillMcneal : well it's not too long, if i can find a "free" copy i'll give it a read ;)
solanka : you can like both in fact,
BillMcneal : i don't want to be interested in poetry, it shares the same problems as literature
PauLa : I'll send it to you with a box full of white chocolates
PauLa : Neruda?
solanka : I read one book of him
